We miss Ali Wentworth on telly! Once upon a time, Starz network had the great wisdom to have Ali star in one of our favorite comedies ever, 'Head Case."
But some nimrod there canceled it.
Now we get our AW fix thanks to Rosie, who chats today with actress and author Ali Wentworth about her colorful and intrepid family, career and new book, Ali in Wonderland: And Other Tall Tales.
Now, back to my favorite comedy that is no more except for my DVD box set. Wentworth's "Head Case" featured her as Dr. Elizabeth Goode, a messed-up therapist with her specialty being counseling the celebrities.
The series was jam-packed with guest-star appearances from huge stars like Seinfeld, Whoopi and more. "Patients" arrive on set with no idea of what the discussion is to come, and the show was completely unscripted, with Wentworth leading the celebs through "therapy sessions" in which anything goes.
The dialogue was brilliant, unpredictable, and featured the work of the late great Steve Landsberg too as Dr. Myron Finklestein. Audible sighs and a moment please.
