Natalie Cassidy has vowed to 'stand by' her ex-fiance after he was charged with criminal damage.

The former 'EastEnders' star - who recently took part in 'Celebrity Big Brother' - has decided to give her relationship with Adam Cottrell another try and will support him through his court battle after being arrested in December.

Natalie - who was assaulted by Adam last year after he smeared mascara over her and hit her with a slipper - wants to give the jobless former transport manager another chance for the sake of their 17-month-old daughter Eliza.

A source recently told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'Natalie loves him and they have a strong bond through Eliza. They are determined to give Eliza the best possible start in life.'

Last year, Natalie admitted she was still 'in love' with Adam, who recently had his restraining order against her lifted.

She said: 'I'm still in love with Adam but I hate him for everything he's done.'

However, she admitted she was 'really worried' for her baby's safety when they were in Adam's company.

She added: 'I can't believe Eliza's not even past her first birthday and I've split from her dad, I thought he was The One. I tried to make it work but it just wasn't a happy family unit towards the end.

'There were times when he got angry in the car and he'd put his foot on the accelerator and start to drive really fast with Eliza in the back.

'I'd ask him to slow down but I knew to shut up. That was really horrible. That was when I was really worried about Eliza's safety.'
