Susan Sarandon will beef up the cast of Showtime's excellent dramedy, "The Big C" for the third season.
The new season comes April 8 At 9:30 PM ET/PT
Oscar-winning Actress Susan Sarandon will guest star in several episodes and will play ‘Joy,’ a cancer survivor who uses her unique experience to inspire and motivate others.
Showtime released notes on the series for Sarandon's character, saying she pushes Cathy to question her own cancer experience and how she lives her life.

THE BIG C stars Laura Linney in her Golden Globe® Award-winning and Emmy®-nominated role as Cathy Jamison, a reserved, suburban wife/mother/teacher whose terminal cancer diagnosis forces her to shake up her life and find the light side of a dark situation. Ten episodes are currently in production in Stamford, CT. THE BIG C is created and written by Darlene Hunt, who serves as executive producer, along with writer/showrunner Jenny Bicks, Laura Linney, Neal H. Moritz and Vivian Cannon. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
Susan Sarandon’s film career includes such classics as the cult favorite The Rocky Horror Picture Show; Pretty Baby; Atlantic City, for which she earned her first Oscar nomination; The Hunger and The Witches of Eastwick.
In 1988, she delivered a breakthrough performance in Bull Durham and the following year she starred opposite Geena Davis in the hit film Thelma and Louise, which won both actresses Oscar nominations.
Her next nomination came when she starred in Lorenzo’s Oil, followed by a nomination for her performance in The Client, and she won the Academy Award for her outstanding performance in Dead Man Walking.
Other films include Stepmom, The Lovely Bones, Enchanted, Elizabethtown, Shall We Dance?, The Banger Sisters, White Palace, Bob Roberts and Safe Passage.
