Showtime's "Homeland" star Claire Danes was honored as Harvard University's 2012 Woman of the Year by the Hasty Pudding Theatricals.
The actress, whose turn as a CIA genius operative Carrie Mathison garnered rave reviews and award nominations, was feted through the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Danes and her husband, Hugh Dancy were served a vegetarian lunch of champagne and butter lettuce with ruby red grapefruit and avocado.
The series ended its first season on a shocker as her character was arrested, and was administered electroshock therapy, as her costar Mandy Patinkin - who plays Saul - put together her cryptic code, understanding finally what she is trying to tell authorities about returning hero/suspect Brody, played by Damian Lewis.
“I don’t know anything. I really don’t,” Danes told the Boston Herald. “But it may not be a direct time cut. Time will have elapsed, and some episodes will have been shot overseas. Maybe you see Carrie in Iraq again. I hope she’s in better shape than we last found her. I want her to wash her hair and put on some lipstick and come back swinging. She suffered some hard knocks.”
