Chris Noth, currently starring in Rome-based De Angelis Group’s, 12-part television miniseries, Titanic: Blood and Steel, spoke to the Irish Times while on set for Titanic: Blood and Steel, on his past time popularity as Mr. Big.
“Sex and the City – it’s the cancer. Global media, you can’t get away from it. I’m laughing. There is not much for me to say about it anymore. It is hard to try and rediscover new ways for yourself to be excited about it.” says Chris Noth while on set filming Titanic: Blood and Steel.
Noth's new project is a dramatic series that looks beneath the pop culture romance that surrounds the “ship of dreams” to portray the process of building the ship in Ireland from the ground up and the people who made the ship a reality.
Using the turbulent society of Belfast in 1907 as a backdrop, the series depicts the story of budget constraints and merciless demands placed on workers by Titanic owner J.P. Morgan (Chris Noth), the struggle of impractical idealist Lord William Pirrie (Sir Derek Jacobi) to balance the needs of his shipyard and his own worries about the project, a skilled copyist, Sofia (Alessandra Mastronardi), looking to break the societal definitions men of the era placed on women, American journalist with ulterior motives for covering the ship’s maiden voyage, Joanna Yaeger (Neve Campbell), and a cultured, young English man Mark Muir (Kevin Zegers) who discovers fatal flaws in the ship’s infrastructure that will ultimately lead to its fatal end.
American network information is still TBD.
