Michele Bachmann's unkind intro courtesy of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon‘s band playing the 1985 Fishbone song Lyin’ Ass Bitch has come back to bite the normally kind Fallon in the rear end.
On Monday night, Bachmann had to face this music as a guest on his show.
Last night, Fallon apologized via Twitter. “I’m honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I’m so sorry about the intro mess,” I wrote. “I really hope she comes back.”
The ladies of The View dissect the subject, embed of their discussion is above.
Fox News Channel’s America’s Newsroom hosted Bachmann today who said that she accepts the apology from Fallon but would like one from NBC.
“If that had been Michelle Obama, who’d come out on the stage, and if that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her and likely they would have fired the drummer, or at least suspended him,” Bachmann said.
Not a stranger to rude welcomes, First Lady Michelle Obama was soundly booed at a recent NASCAR event. Attending an event to highlight military families, Mrs. Obama and Dr. Jill Biden were booed by NASCAR fans on Nov. 21.
The bigger question is - why are Americans so boldly disrespectful to female politicians and figures? There is an evident double-standard that does not apply to male counterparts.
Bachmann on Tuesday received support from Democratic Congresswoman Nita Lowey. “The choice of song to introduce Michele Bachmann on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night was insulting and inappropriate,” she said in a sentence. “I do not share Michele Bachmann’s politics, but she deserves to be treated with respect. No female politician — and no woman — should be subjected to sexist and offensive innuendo like she was last night. The Roots, Jimmy Fallon, and NBC should apologize.”
