We're a little behind on watching all the great TV that's on, and last week's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" Chardee MacDennis episode was a side-splitter.
The "war" game pit Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) against Mac, Charlie and Frank, in a battle of wits, feats and dreaded puzzles that involves copious drinking and a modicum of concentration. The game is a bastard child of Monopoly, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Clue and Charades.
Three categories: Mind, Body and Spirit, were an escalating barrage of trivia/puzzles, pain/endurance, emotional battery challenges, and alcohol too, starting with wine, then beer and finally hard liquor. Charlie's great line delivered: "I’m not gonna play any game in which I’m not getting annihilated."
The winning team gets to stomp the losers game pieces.
Frank (Danny DeVito, who sucks on his hair in one scene) blows it for Mac (Rob McElhenney) and Charlie (Charlie Day) with his unfortunate selection of the Go to Jail card, which requires him to sit in "jail" which is a plastic dog kennel along with the raw cake ingredients that he needs to eat.
Mac, Charlie and Frank figure out Dee and Dennis have been drinking just water, which changes up the game score. Chardee MacDennis ends with a coin toss to break the tie, and Charlie and Mac feel the bitter sting of Dee and Dennis' victory once again.
