'American Horror Story' previews for October 19

Jessica Lange and Frances Conroy are the juice to Ryan Murphy\'s beguiling horror yarn about a house that seems to bring out the worst in people.

Jessica Lange and Frances Conroy are the juice to Ryan Murphy's beguiling horror yarn about a house that seems to bring out the worst in people.

Add to that impressive list of actors, Denis O'Hare, who plays a spectre of sorts appearing to Dylan McDermott's character Ben Harmon in solitary moments.  O'Hare's character had an "Amityville Horror" kind of experience as the house took him over and made him kill his family, then set it alight. He lived, burned badly and now is terminal with brain cancer.  The way the story is playing, he may just be an apparition of the house to trick Ben.

The story continues and the hypnotic lensing, combined with some jarring visuals makes this new series creepier than clowns and scarier than Lindsay Lohan's teeth.

FX fired over previews for next Wednesday night at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
