Another great genre staple gets explored by the Warehouse team—this time, it’s zombies!

Here’s the episode summary from tv.com: “While Myka and Pete deal with a zombie plague spread by an unknown artifact, Claudia tries to reach Jinks.”
It was good to see Jinks back again, honestly. I like his character a lot in that he does add a new perspective to the group. My only concern is that this was all set up by Mrs. Frederic to draw out the baddies. That’s an old TV cliché, and while I’d love for Steve to be working undercover, it’s way too obvious for this show. But we’ll see.
The pseudo-scifi explanation for the zombies was pretty creative, I thought. But I’ve come to expect that kind of intelligent idea from ‘Warehouse 13.’ They made effective use of the cold and hunger, which I liked.
You can tell that Pete is feeling more and more secure in his place at the Warehouse because he’s teasing Artie a lot more. This week included pokes at Artie’s eyebrows and his ability to get along with children. Funny stuff!
Also, Myka’s role continues to blossom. I particularly enjoyed it when she was the one who apparently became a zombie, not Pete even though he had been bitten. That just goes to show that you can’t always believe the rumors and legends.
I continue to enjoy the contrast between Pete and Myka. Pete is full of wonder and delight, usually laughing and enjoying the difficulties they encounter (although being turned into a zombie actually appeared to scare him, for once). On the other hand, Myka’s eyes always bug out in astonishment as things become apparent to her. Also, Pete calls Myka “Mykes” this season, but Myka continues to use the normal “Pete” to refer to her partner—very different ways of approaching an everyday greeting. They make a great pairing, I think, made even better by Myka’s rising the last two seasons.
Claudia is off-balance as a result of Steve telling her to stay away, so when she encounters a mechanical fortune teller in the Warehouse that informs her she’s about to die, she buys it hook, line and sinker! But things work out very well for her in the end as she hooks up with a fellow musician who says he wants her to join his band.
And we actually get to see Leena participating in what’s happening! Was that great or what? I still feel she’s a truly underused asset that the program truly needs to explore and utilize much more than they have in three years. Come on, folks! Give this woman the attention she deserves!
No genre guest stars this week (that I knew of, anyway)! I imagine they’re saving them up for the next go-round. In fact …
In two weeks, on Monday, October 3, we get the two-hour season three finale on Syfy. The first episode is called “Emily Lake,” and the second is named “Stand.” Be sure to watch, then look here to read my review, which will be posted as soon as I can write it!
