On the August 24th edition of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” on Current TV, actress and Oxfam ambassador Kristin Davis (Sex and the City) joined Keith to shed light on the growing humanitarian crisis in East Africa—famine caused by extreme drought in the region.
Plus, Keith talked with the Associated Press reporter Matt Apuzzo, who, along with his colleague Adam Goldman, broke the story on an intelligence partnership between the CIA and NYPD that has grown since 9/11, as well as Diane Horning, the mother of a 9/11 victim, who was among those who met with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and shared her thoughts on the U.S. Attorney’s office investigation into phone-hacking by News Corp.
Davis has been an ambassador for Oxfam, an international organization devoted to fighting poverty and injustice.
Davis and Oxfam America President Raymond C. Offenheiser join Keith to discuss East Africa's growing humanitarian crisis.
Is the partnership between the NYPD and CIA going too far?
Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the New York Police Department has been aggressively gathering domestic intelligence.
With help from the CIA, the department's intelligence unit dispatches undercover officers to keep tabs on ethnic neighborhoods — sometimes in areas far outside their jurisdiction.
Keith discusses the details with Associated Press reporter Matt Apuzzo, who exposed the story with his colleague Adam Goldman.
9/11 mother Diane Horning on the phone-hacking probe U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told the families of 9/11 today that he will investigate reports that Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. hacked into their phones, or tried to.
One of those family members, Diane Horning, joined Keith to discuss to the investigation. Horning said Holder promised the families a full investigation, and that Horning also described the phone-hacking allegations as "disturbing" and "serious." Horning's son, Matthew Horning, 26, died in the attacks.
