FX drama "Sons of Anarchy" cast and The Boot Campaign team up for first-ever Boot Ride & Rally to benefit Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty Endowment.
The Boot Campaign is inviting motorcycle aficionados throughout Southern California to pair some combat boots with their leathers and join the Sons of Anarchy cast for a scenic ride around the Hollywood Hills.
The Boot Ride, which supports U.S. veterans and directly benefits Activision Blizzards Call of Duty Endowment, will kick off on Sunday, August 28 at the Happy Ending Bar & Restaurant.
The Call of Duty Endowment is a non-profit public organization which helps soldiers transition to civilian careers after their military service.
The event represents the first-ever Los Angeles fundraiser organized by Texas-based Boot Campaign, a nationwide initiative which aims to show appreciation for active military and raise awareness of the needs of military members and veterans returning home. With campaign motto "When They Come Back, We Give Back," Boot Campaign is both an awareness driver and fundraising effort that Sons of Anarchy cast members Kim Coates, Theo Rossi and Dayton Callie proudly endorse.
"Wearing combat boots is a tangible way to show support and appreciation for our military and veterans," said show star Kim Coates. "We can't wait to put on our boots and lead 200 riders down Sunset Strip. It will be a great sight, for an even greater cause."
All proceeds from the Boot Ride & Rally will go to Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty Endowment, a non-profit organization, founded by Bobby Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) which seeks to raise awareness for the issue of veterans' unemployment, and provides grants and resources to organizations that provide job placement assistance and career training to returning veterans.
Riders will return to Happy Ending where they will be greeted by a red-carpet fundraising event and the chance to mingle with cast.
This Boot Rally portion, which is open to the public for a $25.00 admission fee, will begin at 3:00pm and will feature a live performance from country star Derek Sholl.
The event will also include a meet & greet with Marcus Luttrell, veteran and author of Lone Survivor, the book that inspired the Boot Campaign.
"It was a true honor to learn that the Sons of Anarchy cast members wanted to join us to show support and raise awareness for the needs of returning combat soldiers and their families," said Sherri Reuland, executive director of the Boot Campaign. "They've helped us provide people in the area a unique and engaging way to give back to our veterans through a very a worthy non-profit, the Call of Duty Endowment. L.A.-come get YOUR boots on!"
Those interested in attending either the Boot Ride or Rally can visit www.BootRide.com to register and for additional event details.
Supporters of the Boot Campaign and Sons of Anarchy fans who cannot attend are encouraged to visit www.BootCampaign.com to see photos of the cast in their boots, donate directly to the Call of Duty Endowment or to purchase their own pair of "Give Back" combat boots and other apparel benefiting veteran's charities.
