Roseanne Barr returned to television on Wednesday, July 13 with the premiere of her new Lifetime series, Roseanne's Nuts.
In the episode airing on Wednesday, July 20, at 9:00 PM ET/PT, almost 20 years after her infamous rendition of the national anthem landed her in hot water, Roseanne Barr gets a shot at redemption when she is invited to sing the song at a local girl's softball game.
As she debates whether or not to accept the invitation, Roseanne enlists her friend, singer Bonnie Bramlett, to help rehearse for the big day.
From Lifetime
Viewers of Roseanne’s Nuts see Barr, who, after tiring of living in frenzied Los Angeles and everything associated with the city, abandons Southern California to experience the newfound tranquility of farm life on the Big Island alongside her long-time writer-musician boyfriend Johnny Argent and son Jake.
Never one to back down from any challenge throughout her life, as only Roseanne Barr can, she comes out of hiding to use her take-no-prisoners approach to life that catapulted her to stardom and shape a more pure and utopian dream she envisions for herself and her loved ones.
What is captured is a funny, outrageous and unfiltered look at why Barr left behind the massive success and power afforded to her in order to transition into an adventurous new life that is a far, far cry from Los Angeles and the entertainment business. Lifetime will air 16 half-hour episodes of Roseanne’s Nuts.
Barr started her career in stand-up comedy before landing her own smash-hit television show, Roseanne, which would change the course of television during its run from 1988 to 1997.
In 1993, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe® Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV-Series - Comedy/Musical. After years of success and ultimately keeping a low-profile in Los Angeles, she became a New York Times bestselling author, has returned to stand-up comedy in recent years and blogs regularly at roseanneworld.com.
