Fans of the show have been asking, “How long can they go in the third season without Myka?” The answer is: About 30 minutes.

Here’s the episode’s summary: “A rock legend's guitar becomes a menace in Jersey City, N.J., and Artie and Claudia run into an ATF agent who has a knack for knowing when people are lying in the Season 3 premiere.”

But first, let’s answer another question: How will ‘Warehouse 13’ do on Monday nights? Very well, if the first week is any indication.

With W13 teamed up with the new ‘Alphas’ and reunited with ‘Eureka,’ the new line-up “marked Syfy's highest Monday time period audience for scripted series in over 10 years,” according to a network press release.

Mrs. Frederick is looking for someone to take Myka’s place, and she settles on Steve Jinks, who has the ability to tell when someone is lying to him.  “The new guy” is played by Aaron Ashmore, who is probably best known for his portrayal of Jimmy Olsen in the now-deceased CW show ‘Smallville.’

Jinks is quirky and doesn’t quite fit in to the “real” world, so after he helps the team from the Warehouse bring back an unusual artifact, he gets recruited and sent to the Warehouse.

Some fans have probably already heard that Jinks is gay, but that doesn’t get mentioned during his debut. The folks in charge of the show have been waiting for the “earth-shattering kaboom” when people discover this fact, but compared to strange objects that can dismember or kill people, what’s the bill deal?

Without Myka on the team, everyone’s off their stride, but no one moreso than Pete. He’s not quite the same old happy Pete, and finding out that he’s working with the new guy doesn’t sit well with him. After all, Jinks doesn’t laugh at his jokes (like anyone ever did)!

They don’t get very far into their first case when Pete seeks out Myka for help. It was good to see her even though she’s working in an old book store. All seems right with the world until Pete decides he has enough to go on without her.

It isn’t very long before Myka realizes that she wants to work on the case, and she follows Pete and Jinks, showing up just in time to use her knowledge of Shakespeare to save some lives. And she’s back in the swing of things again!

But don’t worry--Jinks isn’t going anywhere! He does shake up the status quo and will be a fun addition to the program, I feel.
All the familiar faces are back--Claudia’s fun and Artie’s his old crabby self. Mrs. Frederick knows just what to do when, as always. And poor Leena still doesn’t have nearly enough to do.  I hope they fix that in the upcoming weeks.

So the new season is off to a flying start! What’s up next week? Myka's return to the Warehouse leads to a memory-wiping escapade. Should be fun, so see you next week!
