When it was suggested that the relationship between Myka Bearing and Pete Lattimer seemed to bear a loose resemblance to Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn in some of the old screwball comedies they did. Kenny credited his actors, and was very keen to point out one actor in particular.
With the series premier of Warehouse 13 being just around the corner, it is fair to say that fans of the hit Syfy series are excited and full of questions.
Questions such as: Will we see more Warehouses, what happened to Myka and will we see more developments with Claudia? At the tail end of last season it looked like she was being considered for the caretaker position of the warehouse.
In a recent interview scifipulse.net and sfp-now.com went after a few of these answers in their exclusive interview with Warehouse 13 Executive producer Jack Kenny, who was fairly tight-lipped, but did answer a few questions.
Where Myka Bering is concerned Kenny told the website that fans should not worry about her and pointed out that they did kill off Artie, Saul Rubinek’s character at the tail end of season one.
When asked about Claudia’s development for the new season Kenny was quick to point out that he would not be looking to tease her character arc out to fast, but would rather try and keep Claudia the fun character she is for now and not become caretaker of the warehouse to quickly.
“We introduced that notion that Claudia is being possibly looked at as a future caretaker of the Warehouse, but I don’t want to go down that road too far.
“It’s a taste of something that’s interesting, but I don’t want to lose Mrs. Frederic and I don’t want to lose the fun that Claudia is. I don’t want her to suddenly get all serious and Mrs Fredericy. I think Mrs. Frederic handles that gravitas really well. CCH Pounder is wonderful at that and the thing with the caretaker is you don’t want to see a lot of the Caretaker. We only want Mrs. Frederic dropping in once in awhile.”

“Eddie [McClintock] has a great quality that is like Cary Grant. As in he is actually a leading man that can be both sexy and romantic and still hit the jokes out of the park. That’s incredibly rare. My guess is that when he’s done with this he’ll move into a pretty significant movie career. So yes that’s definitely there and is a good thing to pick up on is that screwball comedy because the two of them are very much like Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant in ‘Bringing Up Baby.’”
“They have a lot of that kind of energy going on. So yeah, I think the screwball comedy is very prevalent. Primarily I think Eddie brings that, but the other actors also bring a lot of that comedic element too. Because they’re all especially good with comedy.”
