Warner Home Video’s “Rizzoli & Isles: The Complete First Season,” hits the shelves on Tuesday, June 28.
One of the better buddy procedurals on TV courtesy of TNT, fans of Boston Detective Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles, the dynamic female investigative duo featured in Warner Home Video’s (WHV) DVD release of Rizzoli & Isles: The Complete First Season, get to take home season one this week.

Available in stores June 28, 2011, the DVD features all 10 exciting one-hour episodes from the cable television series’ smash-hit premiere season and exclusive bonus material including two all-new featurettes, deleted scenes and a gag reel.
The release is timed to the series’ second season premiere on TNT.
Based on the best-selling crime thriller books by Tess Gerritsen, Rizzoli & Isles was developed by writer and former crime reporter Janet Tamaro (Bones, Lost), who serves as executive producer. The series is a smart, tough, and edgy new police drama with a playful yet compelling angle. An instant hit with television viewers, the series premiere set a record for the most watched ad-supported cable debut of all time with 7.6 million viewers and was ranked #1 series for the night on basic cable with adults 25-54*. The series continued to generate exceptional ratings after its premiere and became last summer’s break-out hit*.
Rizzoli & Isles stars fan favorite Angie Harmon (Law & Order) as the combative, working-class Boston police detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander (NCIS) as the cool, cerebral medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles. Jane, the only female detective in Boston’s homicide division, is a headstrong, tough-as-nails and fearless cop who never lets her guard down.
Maura, on the other hand, is a medical examiner and forensic expert, who is more comfortable among the dead than the living. She’s quirky, endearing and exceptional at her job but somewhat socially awkward due to her tendency towards being brutally honest.
The two women often find themselves working together, using their brilliant minds and complementary expertise to solve crimes. Despite their differences, they are the closest of friends and always have each other’s backs as they investigate their city’s grittiest and most puzzling homicides, while busting some of Boston’s most notorious criminals along the way.
The supporting cast includes Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos) as Angela, Jane’s demanding and overprotective mom; Lee Thompson Young (FlashForward) as Detective Barry Frost, Jane’s partner; Bruce McGill (Law Abiding Citizen) as Detective Vince Korsak, Jane’s former partner; and Jordan Bridges (Mona Lisa Smile) as Jane’s brother Frankie, a patrol cop with aspirations of becoming a detective.
“The exceptional female leads in Rizzoli & Isles share a wonderful chemistry and camaraderie, making this series a true standout among police procedurals,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. She added, “The show’s record-breaking ratings prove Rizzoli & Isles is a hit with viewers and is quickly establishing itself as a favorite in the cop show genre. We are excited to release it on DVD and expect it will be well received by consumers.”
Season two sees former 24 star Annie Wersching cast on Rizzoli & Isles as Nicole Mateo, a pal of Angie Harmon's character from her days in the Drug Control Unit unit. Look for Nicole to be the mother of a recently abducted girl. Plus Colin Egglesfield and Jacqueline Bisset are appearing on season two scheduled for July 11.
