Dolly Parton tour dates, new album and 'Tonight Show' Friday July 22

Dolly Parton is booked on the "Tonight Show" Friday July 22. Her ‘Better Day’ album is due out June 28, and her new U.S. tour launches on July 17 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

American treasure Dolly Parton will perform her newly released single “Together You And I” on “The Tonight Show” Friday, July 22.   The uplifting original composition is the first offering from her new album that’s due in stores Tuesday, June 28 via Dolly Records distributed through Warner Music Nashville.   Look for the video of “Together You And I”--shot in Nashville with director Trey Fanjoy--to debut shortly.

Dolly says “Together You And I” was chosen as Better Day’s first single “because everyone seems to love it. It’s got a beautiful melody; it is a very positive sounding song and I love positive love songs. I am kind of like a hopeless romantic, I believe that love can just last forever, or at least that it should!  Sometimes forever is not as long as we’d like to believe,” she adds, “but it’s like ‘Together you and I can stop the rain and make the sun shine’ and just make it all happen as long as we’re together.  So it can be a love song or it can be just about love in general. Just human love and love around the world.”

Following the release, Dolly will kick-off a world tour July 17 in Knoxville, TN; the trek includes two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (July 22 and 23). 

After wrapping the U.S. dates August 3, the tour moves overseas for 18 shows in England, Ireland, Denmark and Sweden starting August 20 and will feature a pair of shows (September 7 and 8) at the O2 Arena in London, the venue where she recorded and filmed Live From London (Dolly Records), her widely praised 2009 two-disc DVD/CD set that included songs from Backwoods Barbie alongside her many classic hits. A tour of Australia will follow in November and more dates in the U.S. and Canada in 2012 are also currently being planned.
