FOX news took on Daily Show's Jon Stewart in an attempt to promote ratings similar to Bill O'Reilly's head to head interviews with Stewart.
FOX anchor Chris Wallace asked if he felt the "mainstream media" was a liberal bias, and Stewart countered that news organizations ran their engines on sensationalism, conflict and laziness.
Chris Wallace pressed the Daily Show anchor about political comments, using a Valtrex commercial that structurally was styled exactly like a Sarah Palin commercial, which Stewart telling Wallace he is "insane" to think that was politcal commentary.
"Are you suggesting that you and I are the same?" says Stewart. "Idealogical regimes can't understand there is free media in other places because they get their marching orders..."
"Here is the difference between you and I. I'm a comedian first. My comedy is informed by an ideological background, there's no question about that."
"I'm given credibility in this world because of the disappointment viewers have in mainstream media..." Stewart claims he has no ambitions to be a political player and countered Wallace.
"Who are the most consistently misinformed media viewers?" Stewart asked at one point during the interview. "The most consistently misinformed? Fox. Fox viewers. Consistently. Every poll."
"Your agenda is more 'out there'," says Wallace.
When asked if he was disappointed in Barack Obama, Stewart, paused and said 'yes, I am." He was asked if he had ever voted for a Republican, "H.W." says Stewart, citing George H.W. Bush's integrity.
