Locked Up Abroad: The Real Goodfella Wednesday, June 8 at 10PM ET/PT on National Geographic Channel

“The wise guys had a certain code of ethics that they had to follow. Drugs was like the big no-no. There was only two outcomes: either death or incarceration for the rest of your natural life. Drugs was my downfall ... it’s a scourge and a curse and it almost cost me my life.” – Henry Hill

Henry Hill, the inspiration for classic movie “Goodfellas,” tells the complete true story of his rise and fall in the New York mob and the details of his life not included in Martin Scorsese’s film.

After becoming a gangster in his teens, Henry had it all: money, cars, women and respect. But when he was busted dealing dope against the orders of his boss, he turned from an invincible wiseguy into a mafia snitch with a price on his head. In witness protection, Henry couldn’t stay away from the drugs. When he was once again caught dealing, he was locked up one more time — this time in Terminal Island Penitentiary, California.

After seven years on the run, Henry’s nightmare resurfaces: mobsters wanted him whacked. Video “Henry Hill Speaks” –

TABOO: FORBIDDEN LOVE Sunday, June 12 at 9PM ET/PT on National Geographic Channel

Love can come in many different — and bizarre — forms. In Washington State, we meet a man with “objectum sexual,” who has an emotional, romantic and often sexual attraction to his car, named Vanilla.

In Germany, we’ll introduce you to the founder of the Objectum Sexual International Forum, who is in a loving relationship with the Berlin Wall. And we’ll meet a married couple in California whose concept of monogamy has an odd twist — she works as a professional sex surrogate who has slept with more than 900 men.

Swamp Beasts Saturday, June 11 at 9 PM ET/PT on Nat Geo WILD

Florida native Shane O kicks off his untamed adventures close to home in the world-famous Everglades. The Everglades are the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, and Shane O will travel from one end to the other, encountering its most deadly, invasive and endangered species.

He will face snakes, alligators, crocodiles and possibly even a Skunk Ape — the hairy, bipedal mammal that is rumored to live in the Everglades — in order to encounter the “mermaids” of Florida, better known today as the manatee. Whether he treks by airboat, paddleboard, helicopter and of course by foot, no marsh is too big or mosquito too pesky to keep Shane O away from this homegrown adventure.

Shane Untamed: Ghosts of Madagascar Saturday, June 11 at 10 PM ET/PT on Nat Geo WILD

Shane O’s next stop is the island of Madagascar. Many people here are superstitious and spiritual, with a rich tradition of legends, tales and fables that romanticize the region’s harsh topography and exotic creatures. In reality, the country struggles to protect its dwindling natural resources.

Already, more than 90 percent of the original forests have been destroyed. The most remote and uninvestigated parts of these remaining forests are Shane’s destination. His ultimate goal: to enter these sacred places, see what’s there and understand why the forests are “forbidden” to foreigners. In doing so, he will document the adventure and wildlife that can be found in this country, along with the dire and persistent need for conservation.
