The Orlando Sentinel reports that the daughter of actor Billy Bob Thornton has been found guilty of aggravated manslaughter of a child in Orlando.
Amanda Brumfield, 32, was convicted Friday. She will be sentenced in July according to the Sentinel.
Brumfield killed her best friend's daughter during an overnight stay in October 2008.
She was acquitted of the more serious first-degree murder and aggravated child-abuse charges. The child, Olivia Madison Garcia, 1 year of age, was trying to climb out of a playpen and hit her head according to Brumfield's defense. The defense suggested the fall may have aggravated a previous injury, resulting in her death.
Prosecutors countered that the three-and-a-half inch fracture on the back of the girl's skull and the bleeding and swelling found in her brain was not consistent with a child falling out of a playpen.
Reports from the trial also reveal Brumfield didn’t call 911 until 2 1/2 hours after the injury, after the baby had already died.
