Lots of casting news in the last week for FX's "Sons of Anarchy;" let's review.
The action for Season Four has the guys a little over a year coming out of jail, and with that comes a parole officer, the new character Carmen Cipollini, played by Debi Mazar (Entourage, Goodfellas, Extra Virgin).
As our friends at BuzzFocus.com noted , with Agent June Stahl (Ally Walker) meeting her maker at the hands of Opie (Ryan Hurst), "there was an opening over at Sons of Anarchy for a tough-talking female law enforcement officer."
BuzzFocus adds: "Her [Mazar] commanding screen presence is all the more reason to anticipate her arrival in Charming. Can you imagine her facing off against Gemma in a war of words? Or better yet, in a death-match?"
So much fun to look forward to there. Gemma needs a strong female adversary to bring out her fire.
Will Carmen Cipollini catch flack or perhaps the eye of one of her SAMCRO charges?
This season will see Jax (Charlie Hunnam), Clay (Ron Perlman, Gemma (Katey Sagal) and Tara (Maggie Siff) assessing their lives after the Belfast road trip that ended in a blaze of gunfire. Tara was pregnant end of season three, so a new baby is introduced. And with baby comes a new babysitter, Fernanda Andrade, who signed on for a three-episode arc as Elyda, a sexy Latina babysitter who works for Jax and Tara.
The lawful side of Charming gains new blood. TV Guide reported that "Terriers" star Rockmond Dunbar also has a multi-episode arc on the fourth season of Sons of Anarchy. Cast as Eli Roosevelt, move over Chief Unser, Dunbar is the new sheriff in Charming. TV Guide describes him as "formidable, confident and forthright lawman" who makes it clear to the club that things have changed during their 14 months in prison.
TVLine reports that Roosevelt will have backup, in the form of Transformers: Dark of the Moon star LaMonica Garrett. Garrett will undergo a multi-episode arc as Roosevelt's Deputy Sheriff Cane, said to be an equally "no-nonsense" authority figure.
“The energy on set this first week of shooting was amazing,” he told TVLine. “I’m so excited to be apart of this series, as well as working with director Paris Barclay and creator Kurt Sutter.”
The unlawful side gets iconic badass Danny Trejo (Breaking Bad, Machete) who is a charming lethal weapon. Trejo is cast as a former Mexican military commando Romero ‘Romeo’ Parada, who works with SAMCRO.
SAMCRO gets an infusion: The Hollywood Reporter wrote Niko Nicotera is cast as Ratboy, a twentysomething prospect Clay and Jax have their eye on recruiting to join SAMCRO.
For fans not in the know, Sutter is augmenting his show with killer behind the scenes Q&A and show tidbits at YouTube Sons of Anarchy channel. Subscribe
And, Peter Weller (Dexter, Robocop) will be directing an episode.
