NBC has greenlit the dramas 'Smash,' 'Prime Suspect,' and the comedy 'Whitney' according to Variety.
NBC gave the thumbs up for "Smash" with Debra Messing, and the UK retread "Prime Suspect" starring Maria Bello.
Variety reports that the "strong contenders" NBC is noodling are "The Playboy Club," "REM" (Kyle Killen "Lone Star") and "Alpha Mom," a comedy with Christina Applegate and EP Lorne Michaels.
And for fans of "Chuck," and "Parenthood" - good news as the network will mostly likely re-up. But "The Event" and "Outsourced" are headed for the chop, according to Variety.
