Sterling Beaumon will redefine the term "bad seed" this week, as he plays opposite Rita Wilson on Law & Order SVU.
Previously best known as ‘Young Ben’ on the hit series, “Lost,” audiences will enjoy the dark side of this thespian's tool box as he tackles the complex protagonist during May sweeps on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (‘Delinquent,’ May 11th episode).

Sterling’s character, ‘Hunter Mazelon,’ is the ultimate bad boy; in fact, “delinquent” would be an understatement. At first seemingly innocent, ‘Hunter’ is an alcoholic teenager from Seattle (with numerous unexplained murders under his belt) who comes to the Big Apple as his psychopathic tendencies progress.
Soon, several middle-aged NYC women are raped and ultimately, experience an even worse fate. Rita Wilson's character struggles to care for her seriously disturbed child with the season’s most startling twist in the final scene.
Monsters and Critics spoke to Sterling about this complex and meaty role.
Monsters and Critics: Hunter is described as the "ultimate bad boy," can you give your fans some insight into this character, and what we can expect from him in this episode?
Sterling Beaumon: My “SVU” character, Hunter, is an all-around “Delinquent” which is, unsurprisingly, the title of the episode. He does some pretty bad and nasty things but he has his reasons. He is very complex and has had to deal with some heavy things that one hopes a kid would never have to face.
M&C: How long did this episode take for you to film, and how was it working with Rita Wilson and the cast of Law & Order SVU? Any good anecdotes you can share with us?
SB: The episode took two weeks to film. I worked eight full days which included a couple of days with the most difficult scenes in my life; those specific days seemed especially long. It didn’t matter since I loved working on this show. The time went fast. Rita Wilson was SO awesome to work with. She is nice, funny and an amazing actress. I know we will stay in touch and I really hope we can work together again soon.
A funny story... There is a scene on the Courthouse steps and Rita’s character is very angry – yelling at a main character. My real mom and studio teacher were clear across a busy street and they could hear her shout her lines. They said it was very realistic and first thought someone was really screaming!
M&C: Your fans want to know, what is next for you in TV, film or both?
SB: Right now I am in discussions for several feature films. I have an especially good feeling about one or two and will be able to announce my next project shortly . Besides “SVU,” you will see me in a guest star role on a new Disney show- “Kickin It” this fall. In the meantime, I am finishing 10th grade, playing high school ice hockey and will finish recording two new songs this month. One should be out in the next couple weeks so look for it on i-tunes!
