"Sons of Anarchy" star Taryn Manning (Cherry) has released her new single “Turn It Up!,” an electro-pop track as the first solo endeavor from the musician, actress and DJ.
It's available now until Tuesday, May 10 as a free mp3 download via her website www.TarynManning.com and its corresponding video—featuring the fashion forward artist in a variety of looks—is now posted at http://www.tarynmanning.com/home/. The video was directed and styled by fashion icon Hellin Kay. The single will available for purchase via iTunes on Wednesday, May 11.
For “Turn It Up!,” Taryn teamed with Michael “Linney” and Miami, Florida based producer Ill Factor.
The song that she co-wrote and performed is her first release following a two-year hiatus with her previous band Boomkat.
“After doing it all, I am ecstatic to return to music which is my first passion…my first love really,” says Taryn. “Music has a way of creating this unparalleled energy in me and I can’t wait for my fans to hear my new song and have them dance to it.”
To mark the release, Taryn has set several performances including a special DJ appearance this Saturday, May 7 at Blush at the Wynn in Las Vegas followed by a set Wednesday, May 11 at Next Door Lounge in Hollywood for a Monster Energy Drink blood drive.
She will also perform “Turn It Up!” live alongside her video Thursday, May 12 at Voyeur Nightclub in Los Angeles and is scheduled to perform and DJ at a party to mark the 125th birthday of Coca-Cola on Tuesday, May 17 at Kitson Robertson Courtyard, as well as back-to-back LA-area DJ gigs at exclusive events: Wednesday, May 18 at the new Apple Store in Culver City and Thursday, May 19 at House of Blues Sunset’s Foundation Room.
Taryn created a successful music career with Boomkat, created with her brother Kellin and signed to Dreamworks Records. The trip-pop band released two albums and both singles from Boomkat’s first record, Boomkatalog One, "The Wreckoning" and "What U Do 2 Me" hit #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play Charts. The band was named the #5 Hot Dance Club Play Artist by Billboard magazine and their song "Wastin' My Time" was personally licensed by Eminem and featured on the 8 Mile soundtrack, which sold over 6 million records worldwide. Catherine Wagley of Bunker Hill magazine donned TARYN a "…punk reincarnation of Twiggy" in their ‘breakout issue’ (January 2011).
Taryn won accolades for her guest role on “Law & Order: SVU” and can be seen on several episodes of “Hawaii Five-O” and “Sons of Anarchy.”
