CBS's lush production of "Hawaii-Five-0" goes to TNT.
The off-net rights to the drama will begin airing on TNT in summer 2014.
Hawaii Five-0 will join The Mentalist, which comes to the network later this year.
“Hawaii Five-0 is a top-notch procedural drama that has already built a strong following,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “With its great characters, intriguing stories, smart sense of humor and explosive action, Hawaii Five-0 is an ideal fit for TNT’s lineup.”
The series stars Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park. The revamped series is based on the classic show about a federalized force whose mission is to stop terrorists and criminals in Hawaii.
Detective Steve McGarrett (O’Loughlin), a decorated special ops Naval officer-turned-officer who returns to Oahu to investigate his father’s murder. He then stays after Hawaii’s Governor (Jean Smart) drafts him to head up a team of elite police officers.
Detective Danny “Danno” Williams (Caan), an ex-New Jersey cop. He’s a divorced dad who clashes at first with Mcgarrett.
Chin Ho Kelly (Kim), is McGarrett's other aide-de-camp, an ex-Honolulu Police Detective who worked with McGarrett’s deceased father who was wrongly accused of corruption.
Chin’s cousin Kono (Park) is fresh out of the police academy and eager to establish herself among the department’s elite.
Hawaii Five-0 was named Favorite New Drama by fans voting on the 37th Annual People’s Choice Awards.
