Susan Lucci will soon have to say goodbye to her iconic serial character, Erica Kane.
The Guiding Light's creator Agnes Nixon came up with this series back in the 1960s, and both CBS and NBC passed on the premise. Finally in 1970, ABC bought the show.
Sad news for the soap fans as ABC announced it has canceled 'All My Children,' and 'One Life to Live.' The slots will be filled in by talk shows, according to the network.
Expect a food-themed series from Gordon Elliott, (EP of "Paula Deen's Home Cooking") and something from 3 Ball Prods., producer of "The Biggest Loser."
"All My Children" will end September 2011, while "One Life to Live" goes dark January 2012.
