Grandma and Elton John night, American Idol Top 11 Redux Season 10

Grandmas were given mad props by judge Steven Tyler tonight, as the show tipped the creative hat to Elton John as Jimmy Iovine mentored the kids on how to present their take on each selected number.

Of note:
Pia Toscano knocked everyone out with her “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” as Tyler told Randy she could handle the ballads, or anything for that matter.
Lauren Alaina sang “Candle in the Wind” and Tyler again won the quip contest, joking she could afford the rest of her dress (a cut off front train dress) singing that good.
James Durbin and his crusty hair rocked in “Saturday Night’s Alright (for Fighting).”
Haley Reinhart nailed her hot version of “Bennie and the Jets” and smoldered atop a piano. “Best performance of the night!” Randy said. We agree.
Casey Abrams sang “Your Song." Not sure about him.
Scotty McCreery and his big baritone voice sang “Country Comfort” to his Nana, and sentimental Tyler duly notes this.
Low point of the night was the segment where Stefano Langone’s father and Howie Mandel bald guy it up next to each other so Howie could plug his new series, which begins next week.
With the judges save of Casey Abrams, this week brings you another 11 songs with the release of the “American Idol Top 11 Redux Season 10” album compilation. Featuring the full length Elton John songs performed by contestants on tonight’s show, the set will go on sale once again exclusively on the iTunes Store following Wednesday’s March 31st “American Idol.” Individual songs will also be available for sale.
The songs released on iTunes are studio versions recorded by the Idols under the guidance of Jimmy Iovine’s team, including some of the hottest producers in the business, such as Rodney Jerkins, Jim Jonsin, “Tricky” Stewart, Rock Mafia, Don Was, Ron Fair and Alex Da Kid. The 11 individual tracks and compilation album that will go on sale tonight are being released on the 19 Recordings/Interscope label. The compilation album will sell for $7.99.
