This Valentine’s Day weekend, TLC premieres the new 2-hour special THE QUEEN, taking viewers into Buckingham Palace to explore the love lives of the British Monarchy.
TLC invites you to celebrate this Valentine’s Day weekend with the Royal Family in the new two-hour special The Queen.
The love lives of the British Monarchy have long been subject of public scrutiny and tabloid fodder, and the modern-day romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton, a middle-class commoner who will soon be in line to become the Queen of England, is no different.
Generations of love stories of love are brought to life using dramatic reenactments, archival footage, and first-person accounts of the people who were there, all exploring the family’s long and complicated history with romance, weddings and divorce.
The Queen follows the perspective of Queen Elizabeth who, from the first year of her reign, has had to balance tradition with the love lives of her closest family. From her sister, Princess Margaret, scandalously in love with palace servant to her own sons embroiled in tabloid scandals, the Queen had to choose between protecting her family and preserving the Monarchy. These years of love-or-duty debate have lead up to the brink of another Royal Wedding, leaving England to wonder if Prince in the new millennium can really marry for love.
The special airs Sunday, February 13 at 9/8c. TLC will air encores of two recent William and Kate specials leading up to premiere:
