Recap ‘Bones’ – The Sin in the Sisterhood
By Wayne Hall Feb 4, 2011, 16:00 GMT

Booth and Brennan interrogate the victim’s three wives, who are also sisters, and learn that jealousy between the sisters and their desire for their husband’s attention had caused a major rift in the family. Booth and Brennan also question one relative who disapproved of the victim’s polygamy.
Is love a chemical reaction or something that grows in a relationship?
Here’s this episode’s summary from tv.com: “A body disguised as a scarecrow is found with a bullet wound in a remote cornfield, and the team is forced to work against the clock to avoid a storm and potential complications that would affect the evidence.
Booth and Brennan interrogate the victim’s three wives, who are also sisters, and learn that jealousy between the sisters and their desire for their husband’s attention had caused a major rift in the family. Booth and Brennan also question one relative who disapproved of the victim’s polygamy.
Meanwhile, Cam loses confidence in her relationship with her on-call doctor boyfriend (guest star Gold), but they both realize they need to make their relationship a priority.”
There’s an interesting balance between the two main storylines in this week’s episode. First up is Cam’s relationship with a busy OB-Gyn.
The two are professionals who lead hectic lives, perhaps too much so. The problem they keep running into is that when one is free, the other is involved with his or her very important work.
In the end, it’s Dr. Lidner who “bends,” as the song says in the Disney animated movie “Beauty and the Beast.” He actually lies to his patients, saying he’s going to be out of the country, so he can spend time with Cam. I have to say that it is nice to see her get more to do that be surprised at what the Squints are up to all the time.
The other main story turns out to be a family that is living a life that others don’t approve of--polygamy.
When a man who has three wives--and all three are sisters--ends up shot in a cornfield, it causes Booth and Brennan (as well as the others) to examine just what multiple partners in a relationship could be like.
There are some tender moments, like when Angela and Hodgins discuss what another wife would mean to the raising of their still-not-yet-born child. Also, at the end of the hour, we see that there is still some feelings between Bones and Booth. Is it really love? If it is, don’t consummate it anytime soon--or the show will be dead in the ratings, much like “Northern Exposure” and “Lois & Clark” became after the leads entered into relationships.
It’s standard operating procedure to expect that one of the wives is behind the murder, and it sure looks like that for a while. Even the episode's title is geared to make you think that. But “Bones” never gives the standard resolution, so don’t expect that!
The only thing that disappointed me was that the polygamous family was a really cliched one-- wallowing in guns and religion. They did make it clear that they weren’t Mormons, which would have been a real mistake to do, I believe. But I still think that it’s time to move past the “dumb clingers” who hold on to their firearms and Bibles stereotype. I expect better from this show, honestly. Old news, Boss.
Next week, “Bones” will show “The Daredevil in the Mold.” A botched bike stunt leaves the remains of a BMX rider on a warehouse roof. Hodgins and the team at the lab investigate the skeleton's multiple fractures, while Brennan and Booth interview the other stunt participants. Elsewhere, Sweets once again asks Booth's advice about Daisy, and Booth comes to a decision about Hannah.
