Shania Twain: New man, new TV show on OWN
By April MacIntyre Dec 20, 2010, 19:53 GMT
Shania Twain has landed a Swiss Tycoon.
The country star grew up in abject poverty in Canada. Twain's father abandoned her as a child, and her mother and stepfather were both killed in an accident when she was 22. The singer became the legal guardian of her two half brothers and sister.
After a divorce from "Mutt" Lange in 2008, Twain bounced back from the dumping and is engaged to Swiss executive Frédéric Thiébaud.
"They've been engaged a couple months," reports People. Twain's rep also confirms the happy news.
Thiébaud, 40, gave Twain, 45, a three-carat solitaire diamond ring.
The scandal allegations of Twain's marital demise was that "Mutt" Lange abruptly left her for another woman in May 2008. Lange and Thiébaud's then-wife, Marie-Anne, a longtime secretary and manager of the couple's chateau in Switzerland were the rumored pair.
"Mutt and Marie-Anne left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship," a source told People. Twain and Frédéric Thiébaud fell into each other's orbit and were seen together in Canada, New York and Florida.
Twain has a documentary series called Why Not? on Oprah Winfrey's new network OWN and a memoir out in the spring.
