The beginning of award nominations continues, post Golden Globes, and now SAG.

The list of nominations for the Screen Actors Guild were lacking in some notable outstanding Television picks, and we have taken the liberty of annotating the released list of noms with our picks and reasons for them.

Special note: Showtime's "Californication" and HBO's "Eastbound & Down" series' ongoing outstanding guest stars casting continues to delight. Eddie "Piolin" Sotero on "Eastbound" was pure genius, as was "Californication's" Kathleen Turner, Rick Springfield and this upcoming season's Rob Lowe, Fisher Stevens, and Stephen Tobolowsky.

TV NOMINEES:

Drama Ensemble
Boardwalk Empire
Dexter
The Good Wife
Mad Men
The Closer

what they missed:

Sons of Anarchy - The tightest ensemble group of actors (lead by Katey Sagal, Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman) since The Wire and The Sopranos. Shame on SAG for selecting "The Good Wife" and the stale "The Closer" over a superb drama that continues to get better.

House - Hugh Laurie and company consistently deliver some of the best work as a cohesive team for a network drama.  This is one of FOX's best shows.

Luther - This was a six part mini-series but a TV series none the less, Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson (Alice Morgan) were fierce in scene together. The cast was rounded out by Steven Mackintosh (Detective Chief Inspector Ian Reed), Indira Varma (Zoe Luther),Paul McGann (Mark North), Saskia Reeves (Detective Superintendent Rose Teller) and Warren Brown (Detective Sergeant Justin Ripley).  These actors made magic happen in a few short episodes and delivered award winning work.

The Walking Dead - A cast of actors who pulled a very human compelling drama out of a smorgasbord of top-notch special effects makeup and horror thanks to genius Greg Nicotero. Led by Andrew Lincoln (Deputy Rick) and dressed with heavyweights like Norman Reedus, Jon Bernthal and Michael Rooker, this story cooked on high and made ratings history for a reason.
