Comic and television host George Lopez's wife Ann filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Married over 17 years, Ann Serrano Lopez is seeking spousal support and primary custody of their daughter, Mayan, 14, with visitation for George, according to the petition filed Tuesday, reports People magazine.
Lopez had a degenerative genetic condition and desperately needed a kidney, and in 2006 Ann donated one of hers. George told People: "I can't pay her back, but what I can do is make her as happy as she thought I would when we first got married."
Comic Howie Mandel showed up on Lopez' show November 10, and he poked fun of George Lopez's marital woes.
George asked how far Howie's famous OCD affliction extended, and asked if he made love to his wife through a hole in a sheet. Howie returned in kind: "Well -- marriage. ... I can't talk to you, because you can't legally talk about it."
Lopez announced he was divorcing his wife Ann back in September. Howie quips, "[You get] custody -- you get to keep the kidney."
