Old guard, New York born, former First Lady Barbara Bush says Alaskan ex Governor Sarah Palin was 'beautiful' with a caveat: She hopes the ambitious reality television star will "stay in Alaska."
Larry King, soon to be replaced by Piers Morgan on CNN, interviewed the former president and First Lady, and the subject of the Mama Grizzly reared its head.
The CNN interview is set to air Monday.
When Larry asked the Bushes what they made of the thrilla from Wasilla, Barbara Bush diplomatically responded, "I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful. And I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."
The Bushes also commented on the rise of the Tea Party, as some see it splintering the GOP: "Well I don't know what [the Tea Party] really is," the former President tells Larry King.
Barbara Bush is a descendant of the Pierces of New England, and is a distant relation to former President Franklin Pierce.
The beloved First Lady made literacy her cause while her husband served as President. Mrs. Bush is the mother of George W. Bush, also an American President. Her son Jeb Bush served as Governor of Florida until 2007. Mrs. Bush and the former President George H. W. Bush live in Houston, Texas and at their summer residence in Kennebunkport, Maine.
