How can Bones solve a crime that … has no bones in it?
Here’s this episode’s summary from tv.com: “A ballet dancer is murdered, and Booth and Brennan are led to suspect a group of street dancers in the crime. Meanwhile, Booth's girlfriend Hannah is shot, leaving Booth to worry for her health.”
Now that the World Series has ended a little early, we can thank the Sweeps for bringing a new episode of the show back so soon. And it is a good one, propelling several storylines.
When a skull is found in concrete, the search is on for the murderer. The victim is found to be a dancer, and when investigating other suspects, at least one can move in such a way that it appears he has no bones.
It takes everything from digging in the trash to calling in some gold to take aim at the killer, and the culprit is identified thanks to a palm print.
There is an interesting development in the Booth/Hannah relationship. When the investigative reporter is actually shot while looking into a cop possibly on the take, she gets shot in the leg, sending Booth into “protector” mode. But it is Temperance who really saves Hannah’s life by identifying a possibly fatal oversight her doctor made. Who’s really the person that can protect Hannah after all?
There are the usual fun bits between the rest of the cast, including Cam’s reaction to a machine that can reconstruct an entire body with only a little information. She lists exactly the type of man she wants, hoping the machine can build him, too.
Angela’s pregnancy continues to move along—she’s not showing yet, but should be soon. I imagine the birth will take place in the season finale coming next May.
It’s a good episode to get us back in the swing of “Bones” after a brief hiatus. Welcome back, folks!
Next week, a young man's body is found in a sunken slave ship as the team attempts to put to rest the 150-year-old remains recently discovered at the site. Brennan and Booth's investigation takes them to a cruise of another kind, inhabited by cougars. What’s up with that?
