Born in the London Tube, the son of German Jewish refugees, and who has made quite a mark on the smallscreen and even politics, Jerry Springer is now an American institution.
On Wednesday, October 27, host Jerry Springer celebrates the 20th anniversary of The Jerry Springer Show in a special episode taped in Times Square in New York City.
In the past 20 years, over 30,000 guests have appeared on Jerry’s stage.
Lesbian sisters who steal each other's girlfriend, who's your daddy DNA nailbiters, a man who married his horse, the Kung Fu Hillbilly…to stripper love triangles. As Jerry likes to say, “You can’t make this stuff up!”
Actually, you can, read comic Doug Stanhope's first person account of his staged Springer episode: here/
Accompanying Jerry for his 20th anniversary are two models, clad in sparkling gold dresses, and of course, the show’s favorite little person, “Sassy” Cassee, a past guest who was on the show as cupid for Valentine’s Day.
The crowd goes wild screaming the infamous “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!” chant as Jerry introduces the clips on several jumbotrons to the show’s “Best Fights,” “Sexiest Moments,” “Most Outrageous Guests,” “Best Transsexuals,” “Most Scandalous Family Secrets,” and “Best Food Fights” over the last 20 years.
Celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Kathy Griffin, the Ladies of The View, Maury Povich, Rachael Ray, Joy Behar, the Dancing with the Stars cast, Steve Wilkos, Perez Hilton and Billy Bush congratulate Jerry on his 20 years of success.
When giving his final thought, Jerry said, “Thank you for the opportunity of doing this show for 20 years – and as long as I stay healthy and don’t hurt myself sliding down the pole at the beginning of each episode – I’ll continue doing it.”
