Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, 79, is recovering after surgery for a "minor benign" abdominal issue.
E! reports that the condition was revealed at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, Calif., which was set to host "An Evening With Leonard Nimoy" on Saturday night.
"Leonard Nimoy will not appear tomorrow evening," the statement read. "He has had emergency surgery for a minor, benign, abdominal condition and is recovering beautifully.
"[Wife] Susan Bay Nimoy extends her thanks to everyone for their get-well wishes."
A frequent guest star on FOX science fiction drama "Fringe," Nimoy reportedly also canceled an appearance at Massachusetts MOCA. Both the missed events are expected to be rescheduled.
Nimoy hails from Boston originally, and is fluent in Yiddish. His second wife, Susan Bay, is the cousin of director Michael Bay.
