Bears, Betcha's and Lipstick: Sarah Palin's Alaska is a Grizzly dose of TLC, preview

There's no doubt that TLC, which brought us the law-breaking "Sister Wives" of Utah, will draw some attention for their latest effort, "Sarah Palin's Alaska," a show so polarizing that at the Discovery Upfronts, the room of left-leaning media types were chilly and quiet after the video presentation and introductory speech by producer Mark Burnett.

And therein lies the rub: The elitist types hate her, and the rest of America clamors for her at rallies and waits in long lines to buy her bestselling book.

TLC has big cojones for a network; they put up shows that many would shy away from. This series will be fascinating to watch for the ratings numbers and content. 

Who doesn't want to see Sarah kill, skin and field dress a moose?  Probably not PETA's Ingrid Newkirk - but blame the neutered, hobbled and helpless feelings many Americans have currently - there's a strong interest in Alaskan values and culture that eschews the handwringing PC types, handouts and government aid run rampant. 

There is an unspoken primal respect for anyone who has the gumption to grab the old shotgun or fishing pole and get dinner on tout de suite, without an EBT card.

TLC fired us a clip from the 8-week television event. premiering Sunday, November 14 at 9/8c.

In this scene, Sarah escapes her busy schedule to spend quality time with husband Todd, daughter Piper, and niece McKinley. They go salmon fishing in bear country - and meet some of the wildlife.
