Things that I love about "Dancing with the Stars."
Tom Bergeron's dry wit. Bruno Tonioli's exuberance. The 10 Commandments of Len. Melanie Mills' Emmy award-winning team of makeup artists (Zena, Angela, Nadege, Patti and Barbi) and their trailer o'glamour gurl fun. Pretty Brooke Burke as Tom's wingwoman. Last but not least, the mesmerizing footwork of the pro dancers who elevate their star charges in weekly boot camps, as we watch them grow and get better.
Tonight saw pro dancers Mark Ballas and Val Chemerkovskiy ( Maks' brother) performed a string instrument duel: Ballas played guitar, Chemerkovskiy played violin, doing very physical dances in a duel described by Tom Bergeron as "High Noon in spandex."
Unfortunately tonight, "Drop Dead Diva" and comedian Margaret Cho had her last dance on "Dancing With the Stars." Cho and her professional partner, Louis Van Amstel, who outed himself last season with Niecy Nash in a themed dance number, also did a story dance that celebrated Gay pride, a cause near and dear to both Van Amstel and Cho's heart.
Cho, 41, cried a bit after being eliminated from the hit ABC show, but vowed to continue kicking up her heels.
"Thank you for the opportunity to let me dance," she said. "I'm going to keep dancing."
Cho and Van Amstel, came into Tuesday's episode in last place, collecting just 18 points out of 30 for their rainbow pride-themed samba.
Judge Bruno Tonioli noted his appreciation to Cho for "wearing the rainbow flag," but he said he couldn't overlook her faulty footsteps.
Ne-Yo sang his new single, "One in a Million." Michael Bolton, eliminated as a "Dancing" contestant last week in a contentious back-and-forth with Bruno, returned to substitute for scheduled performer, Susan Boyle, who was sick. Bolton sang "Hallelujah."
The DWTS celebs left are Bristol Palin, Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey, Florence Henderson, Brandy, Kurt Warner, Rick Fox and reality TV personalities Audrina Patridge and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino.
