Robot Chicken producers Seth Green and Matt Senreich roll out ControlTV, a new live-streamed online reality experiment webseries which will allow viewers to vote on every major decision the main character makes 18 out of 24 hours a day.
The host is Tristan, a 25-year-old Connecticut Yankee who is now living and working in Los Angeles, and at a quarter-life crisis moment.
Tristan is described as charismatic, attractive, charming and affable, and he is looking to utilize the show as an opportunity to let the audience steer him in a new direction that could potentially help him discover a lifestyle he is passionate and proud of.
Coming October 6, Control TV viewers will be activated over the course of six weeks, to dictate every aspect of his life – from the clothes he wears to what he eats and people he dates – for a unique real-time and interactive reality series experience that truly leaves the fate of one man’s life in the hands of the viewer.
Ford Motor Company and Sprint have also partnered with Green and Digital Broadcasting Group. During the show, the guy will drive the recently introduced 2011 Ford Fiesta, a sporty, fuel-efficient small car loaded with technology and use Sprint’s new HTC EVOtm 4G phone.
ControlTV was created and will be executive produced by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, creators/executive producers/writers/directors of the Emmy Award-winning “Robot Chicken," the highest-rated original program on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, along with producer Richard Saperstein, former president of Dimension Films; “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” director Ken Fuchs; award-winning commercial director Stephen Kessler; and interactive technology expert Craig Ullman. Shara Kay will co-produce.
The show will also be executive produced and distributed by DBG (www.dbg.tv), a full-service video network specializing in the distribution of video inventory.
The highlights of each day’s action will be edited into a webisode, concluding with a vote, which will be distributed across the DBG video network.
“ControlTV places the audience in complete control of a show for the first time ever and we are eager to learn what they will decide for our protagonist,” says Green. “We are thrilled to partner with DBG, Ford and Sprint on this ground-breaking new form of entertainment.”
“This show combines the voyeuristic pleasure of reality TV with the experience of control we get from video games,“ says Saperstein. “Plus, it’s all going to play out in real time. The concept takes interactivity to a whole new level, and we think it will be highly addictive.”
ControlTV will begin production in Los Angeles in fall 2010.
