The middle fights back against the far left and right, thanks to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central.
Big question, will the centrists and left-of-center types actually turn out for Jon Stewart's 'Rally To Restore Sanity' in Washington, D.C., for Oct. 30?
One of the reasons Glenn Beck's recent rally drew so many was the wholesale anger at politicians and the status quo in Washington DC. The Tea Party juggernaut is fueled by this rage.
But people who tend to pull center, will they even make an effort to make some noise?
Stewart announced a "Rally To Restore Sanity" on Thursday night on "The Daily Show." He also called it, with a certain hopefulness, " A Million Moderate March."
He claims the 70-to-80% of Americans who are not extremists (on the right or the left) are the ones who the media and the politicans should be listening to.
Stewart invited viewers to come to Washington's National Mall on 10/30/10.
Stewart offered to supply signs for the crowd to hold up. Signs like "I Disagree With You But I'm Pretty Sure You Are Not Hitler."
Stewart will appear once again on FOX news show The O'Reilly Factor on Sept. 22.
Stephen Colbert immediately announced on The Colbert Report that he will host his own rally on the same day in the same location. It will be called the "March To Keep Fear Alive."
