Louie will premiere on FX on June 29, 2010. This comedy filtered through the observational humor of Louis C.K. and his daily life as a successful stand-up comedian and newly single father raising his two daughters in New York. ...more
FX's "Louie" was a happy surprise of sorts for fans of Louis C.K., a comedian whose internal/external comedic musings of his situational happenstance finally found a home where his talent can be fully flexed, aided by an amazing supporting cast.
The adult-themed comedy series starring Louis C.K. ends its freshman season with back-to-back episodes after the season three "Sons of Anarchy" premiere on FX.
I even loved him on HBO's, “Lucky Louie” where Pamela Adlon played his wife, as the series seemed an homage to the 1950's hit, Jackie Gleason's "Honeymooners," gussied up for modern times.
"Louie" sees our working stiff comic navigating his life in New York, in melancholic sweeps that veer into absurdist, hilarious and wincingly honest moments.
His side players include Adlon once again, (she also produces) and great moments from the "Tough Crowd" comedians like Robert Kelly, Nick DiPaolo and Todd Barry.
There’s a bit of a "Broadway Danny Rose" vibe to this comedy, it's not straight up yuk-yuk.
Contemplative, adult, realistic, flawed and brave, we need more comedies that break the formulaic mold.
C.K. is a gem.
