Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Lynch (Glee, Party Down) guest-stars as Pam Puckett, Sam’s never-before-seen, eccentric mother, in “iSam’s Mom,” premiering Saturday, Sept. 11, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
From Nick:
When tempers boil over during an argument between Sam and Pam, Sam unexpectedly moves in with Carly and Spencer. She quickly overstays her welcome and it’s up to Carly to figure out how to bring the feisty mother-daughter duo back together. Nickelodeon’s iCarly ranks as the number-one live-action series on television with kids 2-11 and is the network’s top show among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 year-to-date.
“Since launching in 2007, more than half of the iCarly episodes reference Sam’s ‘unusual’ mom and her ‘quirky’ lifestyle,” said Marjorie Cohn, President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon. “We all love Jane Lynch and when we heard she was a fan of the show, we knew instantly that only she could bring this fabled character to life.”
As Sam has recounted to Carly and Freddie over the past several years, her mother Pam Puckett does not rise before noon, has questionable hygiene and sports several tattoos, including one of a foot on her foot. Her driving skills frequently land her in trouble, and she once sped around the police station just to see how many tickets she could get in an hour (she got 12). Pam also has a very colorful dating life and goes out with a new man every week. Her boyfriends have included: Maury, a mime whom she broke up with because he kept stealing her eyeliner; Bobby, a body-builder who asked Pam to wear reflective sunglasses so he could see himself at all times; and a man claiming to be a senator from “New Kentucky” who stole her television.
In “iSam’s Mom,” Sam moves into Carly and Spencer’s apartment after having an argument with her mother Pam (Lynch). Sam’s peculiar habits make her a terrible house guest and she quickly wears on Spencer and Carly’s patience. Desperate to have her move out, Carly tricks Sam and Pam into meeting at a therapist’s office so they can reconcile their differences. Carly unwittingly gets stuck with the fiery twosome when they are put in a “Therapy Box,” a small confined space where they must talk through their issues before they can be let out.
Nickelodeon’s multi-platform offerings for “iSam’s Mom” include special promotional spots on Nick.com and Nick’s wireless partners beginning Monday, Aug. 30 and will feature a simulcast of the episode on Nick Mobile. iCarly will continue its presence in the Nick VOD offering during September with full episodes from the new season. “iSam’s Mom” will be available on Nick on Demand in October.
