HBO's landslide of Emmy noms has their top talent reacting this morning to the news of their honors.
Temple Grandin
Mick Jackson “Temple Grandin Director”:
“I was sitting in a bar in Rome, looking over someone’s shoulder at a laptop feed of the Emmy nominations being read out. This is such an unusual film that I was worried we wouldn’t get any recognition at all – except maybe for Claire’s performance – which is magnificent, so I was biting my nails and trying not to order a drink. I was overjoyed when the nominations started to come in for virtually every category in the movie – and I suddenly realized that people had really responded emotionally to the story of this remarkable woman and her astonishing life. “
You Don't Know Jack
Brenda Vaccaro (Margo Janus, Jack's older sister) “You Don’t Know Jack”:
"I was asleep! I got the call directly from my friends at HBO and it woke me up. I went out on the patio and started screaming with joy and all my neighbors screamed back 'congratulations!' I am so honored to be in the same category as Susan Sarandon as well as all of the other actresses nominated. I was so excited, I called everyone in the film. I told Jack Kevorkian and said, “you’d better call your sister Margo up in heaven this morning and tell her to get her dress ready."
John Goodman (Neil Nicol) “You Don’t Know Jack”:
“It’s honor enough to be able to work with Al, Barry, Susan and Brenda. WOW.”
True Blood
Showrunner Alan Ball for “True Blood”
“I am very happy that the amazing work of our cast, writers and crew were recognized by the academy. It really is a new golden age of television, and we are thrilled to be in the same category with such landmark TV series”.
The Ricky Gervais Show
Star Ricky Gervais
“I have seen a man walk on the moon, England win the World Cup and an African-American become president of the United States. If Karl Pilkington wins an Emmy anything is possible.”
