Starz awesome comedy 'Party Down' has been killed, Gravity too

"Party Down" is canceled.

Starz just sent M&C this statement

“After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity,” says Stephan Shelanski, executive vice president of programming for Starz Entertainment. “We’re grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel.  Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup.”

Ugh! Where will my Roman and Kyle go for their next gig? Please, FX's kingpin John Landegraf, I am speaking to you; pick this sly ducat of comedy up asap!

Starz killing "Party Down" was a shocker, and "Gravity," well... not so much.

"Party Down's" Adam Scott recently joined NBC's "Parks & Recreation." Jane Lynch went on to FOX's "Glee."

Starz's visceral period drama, "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" was a monster for them, and they have high hopes for Ken Follett's "Pillars of the Earth" starring Ian McShane this July.

But it is hard to see fine comedies like "Party Down" and even Alexandra Wentworth's brilliant little show "Head Case" disappear.  These comedies were not hackneyed network fare and delivered real laughs with excellent writing, casting and premise.
