A Julia and Julie situation is brewing on Showtime's serial killer drama, "Dexter."
Rita (Julie Benz) was killed by the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow) who dealt Dexter (Michael C. Hall) a lethal parting blow in the culmination of last season.
Now, Julia Stiles will play a new person of "interest" to the grieving Dexter. Despite her "death," Benz is already announced to be back on the series in some sort of way.
Stiles will appear in ten episodes in the upcoming fifth season, playing a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter in the wake of the death of Rita.
Production on season five begins this month and will premiere in the fall on Showtime.
Called "one of the best TV series of 2009" by Monsters and Critics, "Dexter" has consistantly excelled in storyline and guest casting, and has seen the real-life romance brew between Hall and his TV sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), as well as the recent recovery made by Hall from cancer.
Julia Stiles has earned a 2000 MTV Movie Award for Best Female Breakthrough Performance and the Chicago Film Critics Award for Most Promising Actress for "Ten Things I Hate About You."
"Dexter" also stars Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.
