Kate Gosselin is having a whirlwind smallscreen life this year.
Hot off "Dancing with the Stars" for ABC, where she didn't exactly earn rave reviews but tried her best, now comes life after Jon Gosselin: Kate Plus Eight on TLC.
Love or hate her, she is wrangling eight kids pretty much on her own, with some hired help of course.
Sunday sees the new series on TLC at 9/8 c.
The network will kick off a two-hour event where Kate manages the brood during a party.
From TLC:
Kate plans a surprise trip to Orlando for the kids to celebrate the sextuplets' 6th birthday. As she prepares for her first trip with the kids as a single mom, Kate attempts to keep everything a surprise while managing logistics and containing the inevitable chaos. Highlights include the kids feeding sting rays at Discovery Cove, swimming with the dolphins, feeding exotic birds, riding in an air boat and taking in the sights of the Everglades, partaking in an orange juice squeezing contest, and enjoying a very special surprise birthday cake.
At 10 PM, TLC gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the daily life of the newly single Kate in "Inside Kate's World".
Post "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," a lot has happened quickly for the famed mother of eight. From extreme hair makeovers to single-motherhood to Dancing with the Stars and press tours, this special provides a unique, never before seen glimpse into the day-to-day routine of the single mother, entrepreneur, best-selling author, dance partner and friend. With input and special guest interviews from TV personalities, journalists, and first time
A new clip of Kate Plus 8 embedded above shows Kate struggling to manage her kids without Jon on a family vacation to Discovery Cove in Orlando to celebrate the sextuplets' sixth birthday.
"So much was new and different about this situation," says Kate. "It was nerve-wracking."
From Kate's TLC Blog:
"We arrived in our sunny location just in time to meet our newest friends -- Penny and Peter Penguin met us at the jet bridge to greet us. We waddled -- I mean -- walked behind them as they led us in their fine penguin suits to our destination in baggage claim. The kids were amazed to see two real live penguins from Sea World in the airport!
After we settled into our hotel and had a much needed night of sleep, we were ready to meet Dexter and Tyler bright and early the next morning. They were the first dolphins any of us had ever met up close and personal, and it was an amazing experience! I had to fight tears as I hugged Dexter and thanked him for my smooth, luxurious ride to the shoreline! Their power amazed me and their patience with my exuberant children was shocking!
Throughout the day, we also met many other new animal friends, including a pool full of stingrays, a rain forest chocked full of exotic birds, and two wiry anteaters -- one of whom was named Simon. He was a five-month-old baby anteater, and we were all in total love with him! His scent was rather putrid, but like his mother who was with him, I loved him anyway! The kids of course wanted to claim him as their new pet!
