NBC's competition "America's Got Talent" is back for summer time programming from NBC.

At the recent NBC summer press day in Pasadena, M&C asked Piers Morgan about the show and his plans for world-wide domination, now that Cowell is laying low.

Americans know Mr. Morgan as the winner of "Celebrity Apprentice" with his friend and show host Donald Trump, and as the affable judge in the hit UK series, "Britain's Got Talent," and sister show, "America's Got Talent."

Unlike so many of his British peers who dominate the USA television landscape, Mr. Morgan takes a more refined discourse with contestants, and refrains from profanity-laced tirades (Gordon Ramsay) and pained personal barbs (Simon Cowell).

Now ITV and Piers Morgan have created Piers Morgan's Life Stories, which features the tall reality TV star in a new role, one of serious interviewer.

Monsters and Critics: Piers, which American network is going to be lucky enough to get your ITV chat show?

PIERS MORGAN:  What a great question.  Whoever pays the most, obviously.  I have a great relationship  with NBC, so I'm talking to them at the moment about doing some of those.  It's been a big hit in England.  So I'm keen to do some interviews here.  Should be exciting.

Monsters and Critics:   Ventriloquism, is that a uniquely American thing?  I don't know of any ventriloquists from Europe.

PIERS MORGAN:  We get them in England.  They're just not very good.  It's a very simple thing to judge. If their lips move, it's all over.  90 percent of  the ventriloquists we ever see move their lips.  I can do that.  Watch.  Sharon, just move your mouth.  This is my Sharon cat impression.  Anyone can do it  while moving their lips.  Terry's genius is he can  sing like Dean Martin through a turtle.  It's unbelievable.  I've never seen that before.

The big story of this year, apart from Howie joining  the panel and being hilarious and irritating in equal measures, is this guy is dying repeatedly. This guy is literally lucky to be alive.

We had a cyclist who jumped up and down on his bike and missed his lower abdominal regions by two inches, which could have been very distressing to Mariah Carey.

We've had Nick and another guy who was  throwing playing cards at 100 miles an hour.  Literally the fastest thrower of playing cards in the world.  Cut two sticks of celery in half and missed his neck by an inch.

He set fire to the guy's underpants, he was [inaudible], and literally nearly blew himself up in the process.  And then in one bizarre scene, a quite slight lady asked Nick to  jump up and down on her back and nearly paralyzed   himself.

So he nearly died and so did she.  This guy is a walking miracle.

NICK CANNON:  I don't know why they're trying to off me.

PIERS MORGAN:  I think NBC can't afford the firing and trying to kill him.  They're brutal over there. I tell you.

Now, after last night's episode, see who advanced to the next round with all the highlights from the AGT results show!
