TV News news: Campbell Brown out and Rachel Maddow 'vibrates'
By April MacIntyre May 19, 2010, 17:36 GMT
CNN's Campbell Brown has gracefully exited from her CNN cable news show due to low ratings.
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow put the scare into Keith Olbermann who admonished the giddy Maddow she was treading in [Chris] "Matthews" territory.
Brown wrote in a statement: "Simply put, the ratings for my program are not where I would like them to be...It is largely for this reason that I am stepping down as anchor of CNN’s 'Campbell Brown.’ "
"I have never had much tolerance for others’ spin, so I can’t imagine trying to stomach my own," she said. "The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else."
Brown could not fight the ratings juggernaut of Fox's "The O'Reilly Factor."
CNN President Jon Klein revealed in a statement that the network would be announcing programming plans in the next few weeks.
Brown says she plans to help CNN through the transition.
