Showtime's "Californication has added Rob Lowe to their roster of guest stars.

Lowe will guest star in the 4th season of the Showtime hit dramedy and will play a charismatic yet self-possessed, award-winning movie star “Eddie Nero,” a possible contender to play Hank in the film version of his hit novel as it gets turned into a film on this season of the show.

Lowe will appear in at least one episode but could possibly recur.

David Duchovny shines as the hedonistic novelist Hank Moody who struggles to raise his teenage daughter (Madeleine Martin), while still carrying a torch for his ex-girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone).

This season, Hank is enlisted to write the screenplay to his book F**king & Punching, the same manuscript Mia (Madeline Zima) passed off as her own last season, to great critical and commercial acclaim.

Hank Moody will also have a new lady to navigate for season four on Showtime's
"Californication."

Carla Gugino is cast as a sexy defense attorney in 10 of the series’ 12 episodes.
