Food and music are the theme for the new IFC Original Series "Dinner with the Band," which combines culinary delights, musical performances and conversations with select acclaimed indie music artists.

The series debuts April 27 at 10:30 pm ET/PT in IFC’s Tuesday night AUTOMAT programming block, following two new back-to-back 15-minute episodes of "Food Party."

In each of the 30-minute episodes, celebrated NYC rock-n-roll chef Sam Mason  invites a band over to his Brooklyn loft where he teaches them how to add his signature culinary spin to their favorite “on-tour” food.

Think Micheladas and Metal, as food is celebrated with road memories and tuneage.

Chef Mason, a challenger to Iron Chef Morimoto on Iron Chef America, is the former pastry chef of New York’s WD-50 and recent proprietor of SOHO’s contemporary dining and cocktail parlor, Tailor.  A James Beard nominee and modern day pioneer of avant-garde cooking, Mason brings a casual approach to his dishes that stimulate the palate and conversation.

Throughout the show, Chef Mason and the artists talk tunes and food while cooking together.  After eating they adjourn to the loft’s living room to play a rockin’ musical set.

Indie music artists planned for the all-new, 13-episode season include: Rufus Wainwright, The Devil Makes Three, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Kid Sister and Flosstradamus, YACHT, The Mountain Goats, Andrew W. K. , My Brightest Diamond, The Murder City Devils, Lightspeed Champion, Au Revior Simone, Theophilus London, and VEGA.

"The perfect night out for me always includes food and music," said Sam Mason.  "This show uncovers and recommends great bands, great food and great cocktails - and gives people an intimate glimpse into these artists' lives."

Like other critically acclaimed IFC Original series predecessors, the series was first a buzzed-about webseries before IFC re-imaged the show as a half-hour network series.

To complement the show’s on-air play, IFC.com will feature recipes, bonus footage and behind-the-scenes moments from each episode, including additional performances from each band.
