"Human Giant" featured the talented Aziz Ansari, who has since gone to NBC's "Parks and Recreation" and scored a network comedy hit.
Ansari was hand-picked by MTV to host the nineteenth annual Movie Awards, aired live on MTV, Sunday June 6 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
This is Ansari’s first time hosting the awards show.
Uber reality producer Mark Burnett, still licking a few wounds from the Discovery Upfront last Thursday at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, where he gamely introduced the TLC's "Sarah Palin's Alaska" reality show to stone-faced assembled reporters and ad buyers, none of whom applauded at the end of the clip. He returns for the fourth year as executive producer.
This award show bucks the norm, things like “Best Kiss,” “Best WTF Moment” and “Best Scared-As S**t Performance,” are the hallmarks of the broadcast.
“Our audience fell in love with Aziz on ‘Human Giant.’ They followed him to the movies, TV and stand-up, and connect with him daily online,” said Stephen Friedman, General Manager, MTV. “Aziz is the perfect host for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards as he will bring his innovative comedy and distinctive style to the movie industry's most rebellious night on television.”
“I’m so happy Ronnie from ‘Jersey Shore’ was unavailable and this exciting opportunity was able to come my way,” said Aziz Ansari.
